We tested the diesel version of the new TT to discover
whether it is possible to combine in one car driving pleasure and efficiency
simultaneously. We opted for the 2.0 TDI 184 hp, a cataloged by Audi as ultra
version, a "tag" that receive only the most efficient models in the
range.
One of the great new features of this sporty Ingolstadt is a
picture of fully digital instrument panel with a single screen. Unfortunately,
our test unit had not installed the navigation system so that we are left with
the desire to see the map in size XXL.
More TT as above
With the third generation TT presents a design more
reminiscent of the first generation 8N (1998-2006). Details like oversized
wheel arches from the bottom of the bumper to the heel completely enveloping
the wheels have been recovered in the style of the original.
However, as far as headlamps and grille refers is perhaps
where we find more changes. The logo with the four rings is now on the hood and
not within the grille as before.
Our unit equipped the S line sport package (2,925 euros)
that is obvious on the outside by a body kit with air inlets larger in the
front bumper, side skirts on the underbody, a rear bumper with diffuser and
Exhaust two separate outputs.
While riding series 17 "wheels, this unit had the
design" dynamic "18" shod with 245 / 40-18. The latter is an
option that only requires an extra 235 euros since the S line package wheels 18
"and associated equipment.
Inside besides upholstery fabric and leather combining Napa
(790 euros) are obvious sight and steering wheel shift knob kit sporting S line
and the spectacular box fully digital main instruments.
Unfortunately without the browser screen installed behind
the wheel can not display any map. You can play to increase and decrease the
size of the needles lap counter and speedometer, control the audio system, the
phone connected via Bluetooth and adjustments as the Audi drive select itself.
As far as habitability is concerned the new TT is somewhat
less claustrophobic than before. The seats are located in a very low position
and leave a respectable ceiling height. The dashboard is quite far from the
front and the elbows seats much space.
The rear seats are still only suitable for smaller family in
exceptional cases and placing highly developed front seats could eventually
accommodate an adult.
With four seats on boot offers more than acceptable capacity
305 liters, a volume that can be complemented with the two compartments beneath
the boot floor, next to puncture kit and battery. If necessary we can bring
down the backs of the rear seats up to 712 liters.
When driving in the usual commuting from home to work and
other TT is a very comfortable car, even with the S line sports package. A
major consideration is found when entering and exiting the cabin. Give way to
the rear is also a nuisance since it forces out of the car, the absence of
backdoors forces.
For everything else, has a very comfortable cabin, well
finished with premium materials and a large trunk. Its compact exterior
dimensions with only 4.1 meters long and 1.8 meters wide allowing stroll with
great agility and easy parking in the blue zone.
Powerful and thrifty
After checking that you can live with the new TT perfectly
on the day we chose to drive fast track first and then a winding road. The
initial route was about 80 km from the toll road AP-7 towards France.
Under the hood has a 2 liters TDI offers a maximum power of
184 hp between 3,500 and 4,000 rpm. In the lower area this 4 cylinder also
shines that delivers 380 Nm continuously between 1,750 and 3,250 rpm.
Hand drive select option (235 euros) we can vary the
throttle response and even the engine sound. While in mode effiency just a
rumor diesel mechanics listen to how dynamic the sound becomes more severe with
an extra sportiness.
To get in position at the end of the day and after covering
a total distance of 292 kilometers we achieved an average of 6.9 l / 100 km.
Something remarkable, especially when you consider that we also made long
journeys on secondary road circulating with low gears.
We continue our test to Tossa de Mar where after doing part
of the shoot we headed north along the GI-682 road between the towns along the
coast of Tossa de Mar and Sant Feliu de Guixols. In the past this journey was
part of a section of RACC Catalunya-Costa Brava.
In the section Tossa-Sant Feliu had the opportunity to test
the effectiveness of TT chassis. While sharing platform (MQB) with SEAT Leon
and Volkswagen Golf, among others, offers greater sportiness at the wheel. The
lower body with 1.3 meters high and weighing 1,265 kilos content thanks to the
solutions applied by Audi ultra make this coupe is a real toy to enjoy driving.
That if, always enjoying maximum security. Although it is a
front wheel drive grip level is exceptional. Only missing the quattro system at
the exit of the slower corners. The train delatero remains somewhat short in
conveying the 380 Nm of torque to the asphalt.
The feel of change is a delight with a few rounds of short
and very precise lever. After spending a couple of hours on a side street do
not get tired of moving the lever and use the third pedal nonstop. There is
life beyond the paddles on the steering wheel and dual-clutch changes!
The sports suspensions ensure high agility while avoiding
the slightest lean body, TT turns very, very flat. While these suspensions are
bright in sporty driving, also worth noting that on firm shabby filtered well.
This is partly due to the rim combination of 18 "higher profile tire, well
sure with a rim 20" low profile would dawn.
In redumidas accounts
After trying it I can say that the new TT 2.0 TDI engine
improves driving experience second generation model. Its engine pushes its
chassis turns even flatter and more comfortable.
With the diesel engine costs a whopping 42,620 euros. The S
line sports package and other extras made this unit is fired up to 48,935
euros. All with manual transmission, no browser, or electrically adjustable
seats, headlights and LED ...
One detail that can summarize the issue price of 190 euros
are optional Audi calls the center armrest. Could it be standard car of 40,000
euros?
If you want a sports coupe compact dimensions are several
options currently on the market: Nissan 370Z, Peugeot RCZ, Subaru BR-Z and
Toyota GT-86. Each offers its own version of a film quite similar and different
prices.
